Up until last week’s rain it had been hot and dry up here… not only was the last month the warmest this year (as expected) but also quite dry. It was so dry in fact that soil moisture for my Cyanea membranacea friend up the gulch (one of the other plants being monitored) was the driest recorded so far… So the rains were welcome!

It is interesting to note how even a small rain such as last week’s provide enough water that slowly seeps into the moss and soil eventually is reached by my roots!
